Festival Extends Beyond Denver, Three-Day Event
For the 18th straight summer, Denver residents are looking forward to the sights, sounds, and savory food of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival.
Although the three-day event is a traditional Colorado summer activity, Tara Brickell, the CCAF’s Associate Director, describes other activities of the non-profit organization all twelve months of the year, far outside the city limits.
Brickell makes sure all visual artists attending the festival - 230 this year - feel at home during the weekend, even if they’ve come from faraway countries. Through the CCAF Education and Outreach program, she also brings the spirit of the festival to area residents long after the annual event has taken place.
Performing Artists Help Create Festival’s All-Around Experience
Each year, the Cherry Creek Arts Festival offers attendees more than just great visual art. The festival also strives to bring world-class performing artists to Denver. The festival features various performance venues with entertainment ranging from the intimate to the grand including local and international artists and street theater performances.
Terry Adams, Executive Director of the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, previews the 2008 performing arts lineup, including Flexion, this year’s Festival Feature. Flexion will perform three times each day on Fillmore Plaza.

CCAF Utilizes New Media to Bring Art to the Masses
The tools of most artists exhibiting at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival are traditional: brushes, pottery wheels, and kilns. As successful artists know, however, promoting that art takes creativity and new techniques.
In this podcast episode, CCAF Operations and Communications Director Tony Smith discusses the festival’s embrace of new media to promote the artists that will be displaying their wares at the 2008 event.
In addition to the podcasts series, now in its second year, the festival is also reaching out to art lovers via non-traditional channels such as YouTube, Facebook, and Yelp.
